Today the church celebrates the feast of the most Holy Trinity, that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one, equally and eternally, one true God. It is the central mystery of Christian faith and life. The liturgy of the word invites us to reflect over God, who is the Spirit and the Truth. He is a God, who lives and suffers among us, he is a God of ordinary life.
The first reading tells us that the God of our ancestors is different from those of the pagans. Our God is never far away from the ordinary people. He is ready to come whenever we call or pray in his name, and to intervene in our life.
In the gospel, Jesus speaks of the mission of disciples by mentioning about Trinitarian God, who is open to receive all people. By this, we know that our God is a God of all, who calls everyone as a child. The second reading teaches us to call God as Father. We hear that all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So, we are children of God.
Therefore, on this special day, Jesus invites us to live as children of God. How can I live as a child of God? It is possible by responding to God, the Father’s love; by receiving his blessings, making use of our God-given talents. It is possible by responding to the Son Jesus, by following him and living the values that he taught. It is possible by responding to the Spirit, by listening and seeking Spirit’s accompaniment and guidance in our life.
