The gospel reading today presents to us Jesus healing on the Sabbath day a man who had a withered hand. The coming of Jesus to this world is to rewrite the rules and laws of authorities. He gives us the law of love as the supreme law above all other laws and that’s what we see in today’s gospel. Throughout the gospel we see the healing ministry of Jesus, where he gives importance to human life and human relationship rather than the rules and regulations.
His rules and regulations are based on love and that’s what he showed to us by his very way of life, giving up his own life for each one of us to save us from the slavery of sin and death. When we look into our own life very often, we give importance to the rules than love and the human values.
The perfect example is the farmers in our country, who are fighting for their survival and very often they are ignored by all. I am also one among many, not doing anything for them.
Today’s reading tells that Jesus grieved at their hardness of their heart. May be today Jesus is grieving at my attitude towards my fellow human. Today let us seek the grace of God to value each human life and love everyone like Jesus loved us.
