The Liturgy of the word motivates me to march forward in my vocation to priesthood. Since last month I have been disturbed by various incidents that occurred around me. The sudden death of one of my friends, a priest whom I know chose a different path, and a young priest shared with me that he is not happy with the choice that he made. I am afraid, how am I going to persevere in my God’s call. These events disturbed me, but the reality of life remains the same and nothing could be hidden under the carpet.

Amidst the disheartened moments of my life, the phrase “harvest is great, laborers are few” challenged me and paved a new path in my life. It gave me a new hope to endure sufferings that comes on my way. Since the dawn of Christianity the harvest that the church has produced in all walks of life was immeasurable.

It is also true that only a few people have made tremendous changes in the church, society, and congregation and in our communities too. The choice everyone makes for his or her life affects another. As I am marching towards my goal to serve the people of God, I have greater responsibility to make better choices in my life. It is the cry of our Mother Church as it faces vocational crisis to preserve the good works of Christ. Let us pray to Lord of the harvest to send laborers to continue his mission.
