Readings: Is 26:1-6; Mt 7: 21, 24-27
The gospel of the day reminds me about how I am responding to the Word of God. Do I hear the Word of God and act according to them? Here Jesus is offering me choices. He has given me the freedom. Ultimately, I am responsible for my choice. At last there are consequences based on the choice that I make like the wise man who built his house on the rock, which was able to overcome the rain, flood, wind etc.
The rock which is mentioned here is the Word of God and the house is my life. If my life is based on the Word of God, I can overcome the sufferings and the difficulties of my life and I can stand against the evil which tries to destroy my life. As it says in the first reading, trust in the Lord forever who is an everlasting rock. He has brought down the great and lifted up the lowly.
If my life is not based on the Word of God, the destruction of my life will be the same as the foolish man who built his house on sand. And the collapse of that house was terrible. Thus, the readings of the day invite me to live my life according to the Word of God that I realize in my spiritual activities.
