Readings: Heb 4:1-5,11; Mk 2:1-12
Today’s first reading explains to us what is God’s rest. We are invited to enter into rest with Jesus. we will find God’s presence, blessings, and peace. God rested on the seventh day, and he celebrated the completion of his work of creation. Our rest with Jesus gives us new strength. We receive the divine energy to obey and work for him.
We are also reminded to be united by faith, so that by faith we understand that message and remained obedient to God. ‘Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen’ (Heb 11: 1). From this particular passage we see that the central theme of faith is confidence and trust. For us as Christians the object of faith is God and his promises. Jesus invites us to rest in him and he is the way, the truth and life.
The gospel of today highlights the strong faith of the paralytic and those who carried the paralytic to Jesus. Jesus opens his door to everyone who placed faith in him. This paralysed man is cured on account of his friend’s persevering faith. Everything was possible and nothing could stop them. Although there was a huge crowd, they did not give up. Jesus forgives his sins and heals him. Now he is no more a paralytic, he begins a new life with enthusiasm and joy while the people glorified God. In our lives we have come with many faith experiences. But do we bring change within, and do we share our god experience with others?
