Readings: Acts 4: 13 – 21; Mk 6: 9 – 15
In today’s gospel, we find Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene after his resurrection, who was mourning for him, after which, she went and informed the other disciples about the miraculous event. In the first reading, we find the miracle performed by the disciples in the name of Jesus. They preached the gospel boldly to the people around them.
I used to think, how can I proclaim the gospel in my community life? Inspired by the readings of the day, I can say that I can proclaim the gospel in my community, by helping and sharing good times with my
friends.
The gospel can be shared anytime and anywhere, but before doing it I need to prepare the values of the gospel in my life. How can I expect someone who have not heard and known of the Lord to experience his resurrection if I have not believed and experienced the Lord first?
The gospel should be part and parcel of my life so that in whatever I do and say will have an impact on others’ life too. So, God calls me today to prepare myself for the mission like the disciples of Jesus (Peter and John) who performed miracles in the name of Jesus and proclaimed the experience of the resurrection of the Lord to people around them. Even though they were opposed by teachers of the law, they did not stop sharing the joy of the resurrection of the Lord with others. So today, I am called to do the same in my life.
Lord, grant me the strength to surpass the fear in me in proclaiming the gospel to the people around, so that all people may rise anew.
