Readings: Eph 1:15-23; Lk 12:8-12
The readings invite me to give a listening heart to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and to be authentic in my hope of being united fully with Jesus. Though partially, I get a taste of his life in me when I give a listening ear to the Holy Spirit. Deep within me, there is always a whisper which teaches me to do the right thing and protects me from doing wrong. It helps me to walk in the path of light and love.
In the first reading, Saint Paul prays for the Ephesians that they may receive the Spirit of God the Father who would help them to recognize Jesus as the head of all things and the fullness of life.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples to revere the Holy Spirit and to allow it to teach and guide what they should speak. He also encourages his disciples not to be afraid of coming persecution.
Often, I fail to listen to the promptings of the Spirit. In small matters, I ignore the whisper of the Holy Spirit and let my talents and hard work dictate my words and actions. Then I find myself not on the path of the light and love but the road of selfishness and pride.
Today, I am encouraged by the readings to give a chance to the whisper of the Holy Spirit to guide my life to Jesus and to keep me away from being selfish and proud.
