Readings: 1Tim 2:1-8; Lk 7: 1-10
In today’s first reading; St. Paul reminds us of our attitude towards prayer which is a basis of our relationship with Jesus that guides and changes our lives.
In the gospel reading of today, Jesus praises an official who in spite of his power and authority over his servants and whose commands are well followed, is well aware of the presence and deeds of Jesus, in whom he had great faith. That faith made him to approach and ask for healing power of Jesus for his servant. He expresses his unworthiness in Jesus but Jesus recognizes his faith that is pure in heart.
It is this faith that made Jesus to perform a miracle. Both the readings of today tell us that it is not our talents, power, and authority that will favor us to build up a good relationship with Jesus. But in spite of those possessions we need to be humble, simple and be pure in heart which will help us to build up a good relationship with Jesus.
