Readings: 1Cor 2:10-16; Lk 4:31-37
The source of the existence of the Spirit of human being is the Spirit of God which he endowed by his own breath.
The readings of today speak to me about the power of the Spirit of God, and how the Spirit of God functions in my being. My knowledge or my being is enough for me to know that I can think, see, hear, speak, love, breathe, and so on. But what if I am asked to know about the source of my own being? I become speechless on this concept. But having received a new Spirit in the blood of Christ, with my complete experience, I do really know that the Spirit of God lives in me. The Spirit of God lives in me and has tremendous power to achieve goodness in life and the goodness of Christ.
To give assurance to myself with regard to the power of the Spirit of God, the reference is in today’s Gospel reading, where the power of the Spirit of God in Christ casts out in the spirit of demon (unclean spirit) from the person, and then, how, the unclean spirit had to say: “Ah! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy one of God.”
This is the purest form of Spirit of God revealed in Jesus Christ, through which my faith in God gets affirmed and his Spirit lives in me at all moments of my life.
