Readings: Acts 22:30, 23:6-11; Jn 17:20-26
In today’s world, we see nuclear families more than Joint families. Couples want to live independently after their marriage and not with their parents. The virtue of unity among families seems to be disappearing and becoming rare these days.
We are almost reaching the Feast of Pentecost and the readings of today invite us to pray for unity among us and pray for the good of one another. The Holy Spirit will keep us united and give us the courage to be a witnessing community of the message of God.
The message of God is Love and he showed it by sending His only Son to this earth. In the Gospel reading Jesus prays for all the people to be united in love.
As Christians, we are called to preach to the whole world the message of love without fear just like Paul did. We can show to others through our love and unity that we are followers of Christ who intercede for us to the Father whom we call God. Our unity is the manifestation of the presence of Jesus among us and His message of love will be spread to others by our very life of unity.
