Readings: 1 Thes 2: 9-13; Mt 23: 27-32
The readings of today impel me to be a witness of God’s love, mercy, and compassion throughout my life especially through my works.
In the first reading, St. Paul says that he worked night and day so that he was not a burden to others. His works brought forth fruits as the people of Thessalonica to whom he preached word of God accepted it in faith. In the Gospel, Jesus criticizes the Scribes and the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. It is also a challenge for me to avoid hypocrisy in my life.
The readings motivate to me to work to spread the word of God and make Jesus known, loved, and served. I am reminded not to seek self-glory or to tell others how righteous I am. I am called to be a witness of God’s love before others by sharing his love with them through my kind acts. I am invited to avoid hypocrisy in my life and to be true to self, others, and God. I am also called to be more effective in ministry by gaining the competence to see and the courage to act.
