Readings: Eph 2: 19-22; Lk 6: 12-19
The readings of the day invite me to reflect upon my prayer life and my relationship with others. Last month I spent days and nights to plan out for our feast day celebration. And I had several discussions with my friends and with my group. I want my mind to be quick and sharp to take good decisions, but sometimes I failed.
Today’s reading taught me why I failed. It is because of lack of time I spend in my personal prayer. In the gospel, before the selection of disciples Jesus spent his night in prayer because he wants his chosen ones to be the faithful ministers of the word of God and also the future leaders of the church.
Moreover, Jesus took the decision to call his apostles from different paths of life. Some were fishermen, tax collectors, zealot etc. Jesus selected his apostles with different abilities but gave ONE MISSION. The apostles were united in sharing the common life. Being a follower of Jesus and for the same mission, I have to spend time with God to be successful and to take good decisions.
And as I am called by God to live with different group of people for a mission, I have to respect and accept everyone and work for the mission as a family of God not just with my own groups or friends. Every family has its own problems (with fathers, brothers, parents, siblings etc.,) but I need to understand and surrender myself to God the Father in prayer as Jesus did.
