Readings: Gen 6: 5-8, 7: 1-5, 10; Mk 8: 14-21
God created us out of love, and He wants us to share his love and goodness with others. Contrary to what is said, the first reading tells us that God regretted for having created human beings because he saw the wickedness and evil thoughts of the people he created.
However, the beauty of God’s goodness is seen in his compassion and mercy towards those individuals who are faithful to God. Because of one man, i.e., Noah and his fidelity and
righteousness, humanity was saved from total destruction. Looking at the quality of our life, will God find joy with our conduct?
Why people choose evil over God? Most of the time it is because of our pride that makes us lose sight of God’s Fatherhood. We have a Father, but we choose to be orphans. We have forgotten to trust in God’s providence. The disciples are so worried for they have forgotten to bring sufficient bread to eat. But they missed out the important part, that Jesus can do something miraculous for them.
What happened to the disciples can very well happen to us too. For not being able to understand, to see, to hear and to remember the marvellous deeds of God. Let us be reminded today that when we are grateful and live our lives in accordance with the Gospel values many people may get inspired to do likewise. We can certainly make the surroundings a better place by being good persons ourselves just as Noah did.
