Readings: Gen 8:6-13, 20-22; Mk 8:22-26
To see things clearly and reach the level of perfection with Christ we need to persevere in doing what is righteous. The readings of today invite me to try harder for perfection and not to give up until I have attained it.
In the first reading, Noah sent out the dove thrice to see if the waters were dried up from the earth. It was only after the third time he came to know that the face of the earth was drying. He offered a sacrifice to the Lord to thank him for saving him and his family from the flood.
In the Gospel, Jesus restores the sight of the blind. It was only after Jesus had laid his hand twice on the eyes of the blind man that he was able to see clearly.
In my life I need to realize that I am not led to the perfect life in Christ immediately. I cannot mature in Christ immediately. I grow in Christ step by step and stage by stage. Today I am invited not to look for instantaneous maturity, but to care enough in keeping up the progress steadily. The grace of God is always necessary to pursue my goal. So, during this season of grace I am reminded to seek the grace of God to persevere in my life to reach perfection.
