Readings: Is11:1-10; Lk 10: 21-24
Today’s readings tell us about the coming of a righteous and just kingdom which is the reign of Messiah. The responsorial psalm of today reminds us that in Messiah’s days, justice will flourish. The chaos of the world, the wars between the nations and the conflicts existing in different regions of India express the universal yearning for a just and peaceful kingdom. Thus, the season of advent as well as today’s readings inspire us to hope for a peaceful and harmonious life situation. How can we experience the joy and peace within us that Jesus brings to us?
The gospel reading of today, invites us to be humble like the little children in placing trust in God. Like children, we need to depend on God to enjoy the salvation that Jesus brings to us. Depending on God means to desire and seek wisdom and understanding that Jesus brings to us. One who trusts in God rejoices in the Holy Spirit as Jesus did in the gospel of the day. It is to know and choose Jesus even when we have a high intellectual capacity and good knowledge of the world. Without humility or adhering to Word of God, it is difficult for us to understand the designs of God in our life.
Therefore, in this season of advent, as we expect to enjoy the reign of God and peace and justice it brings, let us pray that we may remain humble and dependent on God like little children to receive his revelation of truth.
