Today’s liturgy reminds us of our primary task of being faithful to the call that we have been called for. Having reflected upon the Gospel reading, I was inspired by the commitment of Jesus. Though he was most wanted by the people and well known for his ministry, he was sure on focus with his primary task given by God the Father: to preach and proclaim the kingdom of God.
Three main aspects are necessary to spread the kingdom of God. They are breaking the word of God, commitment in the ministry and personal communication with God. Most of us are focused on preaching and ministering to the people in different ways but often fail to have our personal communication with God.
Though Jesus was divine and Son of God, he showed us through his life that personal touch with God is must for doing any ministry in the name of God. Doing so will really make us to have grace-filled ministry and experience in all that we plan and do. This further lead us to be grateful to God and give Glory to him in all that we do, like St. Paul in the first reading.
With this understanding let us reflect for a while with the following questions:
• Do I communicate with God personally every day?
• Am I committed to my ministry? Or Am I attached to any particular people or thing?
• Am I interested in breaking the word of God and share with others?
• Do I visit the sick, like Jesus and show my concern?
• Does my ministry bring glory to God or me?
