Tinsukia, Bijlibari TE: A workshop on “Healthy Mind, Healthy Life” and “Organic Farming” was held in the verdant expanses of Bijlibari Tea Estate. in the northeastern state of Assam, bringing together over 40 individuals from diverse age groups. The event, marked by a traditional welcome with song and ‘gamusa’, aimed to foster a robust community through discussions on crucial topics.
The resource persons Sir Lawrence and Robert led discussions on “Healthy Mind Healthy Life,” emphasizing the importance of emotional well-being, mental resilience, and positive self-esteem. Attendees were encouraged to adopt effective coping strategies for stress, maintain high emotional intelligence, and seek help when necessary.
Parallelly, the discourse on “Substance Abuse” and the “Evil effects of Alcohol” highlighted the dangers of drug abuse. The session also introduced the YaR (Young at Risk) Commission’s vision and mission, focusing on job placement, creating bright futures for youth, and sustainable practices like organic farming.
The Integrated Natural Farming Farm School (INFFS), located in Don Bosco, Hijuguri P.O., Tinsukia, Assam, was highlighted as a beacon of hope. With its theme “To Save Our Local Food Wisdom,” INFFS is at the forefront of training youth and farmers in Natural Agricultural technologies. The school’s curriculum includes Zero Tillage Beds, Raised Beds, Heap Compost, Liquid Compost, Bamboo Biochar, and other bamboo-based farming techniques.
This initiative aims to preserve local food wisdom and empower individuals to utilize nearby resources effectively. As Bijlibari Tea Estate continues to adopt these sustainable practices, it stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to nurturing both the land and its people for generations to come.
