Readings: 2 Cor 9: 6-10 Jn 12: 24-26
The gospel reading speaks about the simple principle of life that, to gain something one must give up something else. Usually one gives priority to what is more valuable, and is ready to forgo other things for the sake of it. Often time it looks easy, but it needs a lot of courage to forego things that one likes.
Eagle can live up to 70 years but at the age of 40 the eagle has to make a decision to undergo a pain which is almost equal to death. If the eagle says life is more worth than the pain, only then it can do that. If the seed says dying and sprouting up is more painful it would remain, but the nature of the seed is to die and grow as a new plant, therefore most of the seeds sprout and come up.
Today the readings invite us to look into our lives and evaluate them in the light of the gospel. May be at times we have not been generous with the Lord in spending our time. Lord Jesus gives a loving invitation through the readings of the day, to give up our own comfort zone, narrow mindedness for the sake of conquering the kingdom of God. We shall march with the hope that God the Father will honor us on the last day.
