Readings: Is 65:17-21; Jn 4:43-54
Today the reading invites me to deepen my faith in Jesus who has called me, to experience his divine touch and power in life. In today’s Gospel reading we hear the beautiful narration of Jesus healing the son of the royal official. The pagan officially came to Jesus and pleaded with him to cure his son. However, he approached Jesus with half belief, desperation, and faithlessness without realizing the miraculous works of Jesus.
Jesus did not look at the unbelieving heart of the pagan, but rather at his humility to approach him for his son’s healing. The gifting words of Jesus “your son will live” led to hope, trust and faith in the Lord by the official and his family members.
Through this passage, Jesus encourages me to follow him constantly, to continue his mission and spread the fragrance of his unconditional love to all the people. The healing incident challenges me to direct my words and deeds towards deepening faith and renewing life of the people, for the greater glory of God.
