Readings: 1 Kg 3:5, 7-12; Rom 8:28-30; Mt 13:44-52
The readings of the day invite me to find the treasure in my life. The treasure for me is already and not yet. It is already because I know through my faith that it is Jesus who loved me, died for me, rose for me, and offers me a share in his life. The treasure is not yet because I have not realised the fullness of life with Jesus in my life.
In the first reading, Solomon asked God for understanding and wisdom to discern between good and evil. God gave him wisdom, and also wealth and fame. Solomon found the treasure of wisdom to be the greatest thing in his life.
The second reading tells us that God called us who love Him to share the glory in Christ Jesus. In the Gospel, Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven with a treasure hidden in the field, with the fine pearls, and with the net. I am encouraged to seek the kingdom daily in my life with the given situations and my relationships.
The Kingdom of Heaven is everywhere. With full awareness when I treasure Jesus as the precious person of my life, I begin to manifest his values in my life. I am invited to be a hopeful sign of the Kingdom. I am a hopeful sign when others can behold how I treasure Jesus in my life.
