Trust In God’s Gifts

Readings: Gal 3: 1-5; Lk 11: 5-13

The Gospel reading today emphasizes the value of persistence in prayer and trusting in God’s providence. Jesus uses a relatable example of a friend responding to an inconvenient request, highlighting that persistence moves the heart. This assures us that, unlike the friend, God is never burdened by our needs or timing. He is always ready to listen, especially when we approach him with humility and trust. The call to “ask, seek, and knock” invites us to pursue not just material needs but a deeper relationship with the father.

In our journey of discernment, we continuously knock on the doors of clarity, wisdom, and grace. God assures us that with faith and sincerity, we will find what we seek, not in our timing, but in his perfect timing. Pope Francis reminds us, “God is patient with us because He loves us. Those who trust in God never lose hope; they can trust in the Father’s timing.”

This echoes today’s passage, calling us to trust that God’s gifts, whether strength to persevere through challenges or the guidance of the Holy Spirit, are always for our spiritual growth. This trust is vital for our own lives and ministries, reminding us of that God, like a loving father, only provides what is best for us. This passage encourages us to approach God boldly, confident that his love for us surpasses any human example.
