Today, St. Paul encourages us to have strong faith in Jesus, who abolished death and brought us life through his suffering and death. He urges us to trust in God’s power even when we face challenges. God’s grace through Jesus is a gift that calls us to be holy and becomes the channel of our salvation. Our faith and trust should mirror the psalmist of today, who declares his complete dependence on God. He sees himself as a servant at the mercy of the Lord, knowing that God, who dwells in heaven, takes care of everything.
In the gospel, Jesus challenges the skeptical attitude of the Sadducees regarding the resurrection. Jesus affirms that there is life after death, for He is the resurrection and the life. He asserts that God the Father has the authority to raise the dead, and once they are raised, they will be the beloved children of God, like the angels.
Today, let us firmly trust in God’s promises and live out our faith confidently, for we have a God who always keeps his promises. He has a plan for us and fulfils it through our lives, even when circumstances look uncertain, for he is the God of the living.
