The readings of the day give me an assurance of the love and grace of God. They give me the confidence that in his great mercy and providential care God will answer my prayers. The first reading speaks about the prayer of confidence which Jeremiah has in the Lord. Jeremiah faces terror from every side. He faces opposition and trouble from his friends.
But he trusts the Lord that he would deliver his life from the hands of the evildoers. The second reading speaks about the free gift by the grace of Jesus Christ which God has bestowed on His people who sin and disobey Him. God brought righteousness and obedience through Jesus Christ. He has given this free gift to us out of his love for us.
The Gospel of the day gives me the confidence that I am valuable to the Lord. The Lord takes care of me and even the hairs of my head are all numbered. Jesus asks me not to fear those who can kill my body but to have a reverential fear for God. I am invited to open my life to receive the love, grace and mercy of God through Jesus Christ. I am called to cultivate a great trust in the Providence of God.
