Trusting God Also Means Helping Others

Readings: Eph 2: 12-22; Lk 12: 35-38

Today’s readings invite us to trust God and be prepared to receive his blessings. The first reading teaches us that through Jesus, we are part of a loving community. We are no longer outsiders; we are united in faith, encouraging one another on our journeys.

In the gospel of the day, Jesus reminds us to be ready like workers awaiting their master’s return. This readiness involves living in a way that shows our openness to God’s guidance. St. John Paul II, whom the church remembers today once said, “The future starts today, not tomorrow.” Our trust in God prepares our hearts to receive his blessings. So how can we put these teachings into practice? First, we must trust God. Trusting him means believing in his good plans for our lives, even amid difficulties. We express this trust through prayer, sharing our hopes and fears with him.

Second, we should prepare ourselves spiritually. This can be as simple as dedicating a few minutes daily to pray, read Scripture, or engage with spiritual literature. These small habits draw us closer to God and help us recognize His blessings.

Finally, we must act. Trusting God also means helping others, whether by supporting a neighbour or showing kindness to someone in need. As St. John Paul II said, “Love is the measure of our faith. “By trusting in God and preparing our hearts, we open ourselves to his blessings. Let us encourage one another to live with faith and readiness.
