Readings: Heb 13: 15 – 17, 20 – 21; Mk 6: 30-34
“We are called to go out and proclaim the good news and restore those who have gone away from the Lord.” The first reading urges me, not to neglect what I can do well and to share what I have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. As a Christian, my primary duty is to proclaim God and to make him known, loved, and served. This is a mission of God and it is my responsibility in life.
We see in the gospel reading Jesus sending out his disciples to preach the Gospel and to do the mission. As a result, the disciples accomplished the instructions of Jesus and returned praising God and sharing the wonders that happened in their mission field.
At the time of my baptism, I became a member of Christ and at my Confirmation, I confirmed to follow Christ radically. When I examine my life and see where and what I stand for, I am challenged by the question; ‘am I in Christ, or am I out of Christ?’
Believing in Christ alone is not enough, because Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven”. My faith in Christ is accomplished in my services to my brothers and sisters with a genuine feeling of compassion that leads me to action. I may have nothing with me but being with those who suffer and getting to know their pain and suffering is a mission of God. So, let us pray for God’s grace that we may understand the real will of God and we may take a step towards doing it faithfully.
