In the gospel of the day, we hear Jesus warning the towns of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum. Jesus was saddened by the fact that the people of these towns for whom he did more rejected him and his message. Therefore, Jesus warns them that they will be judged more harshly than the other towns which have not heard the message of God.

Today the gospel reminds us that we should not take God’s grace for granted. When we are blessed with more opportunities and chances to hear, learn, and experience the word of God we must respond with faith and obedience. We are responsible for our own fate. Jesus gives open invitation to all to accept the gift of salvation. He, in his goodness, always invites us to accept him and to be saved. Jesus also teaches us today that when we listen to his followers, we listen to him.

This is an important lesson for all of us to learn. We are entrusted with mission of spreading the message of salvation to the people through our life. We should not be afraid to share our faith in hostile situations. We are called to do our duty faithfully with courage. May God help us to be faithful disciples who share the gospel with joy and boldness.
