Readings: Acts 8: 26-40; Jn 6: 44-51
The first reading speaks about Philip explaining the scripture to the Ethiopian, where he proclaims that Jesus is the saviour of us all and baptized him, in the name of Jesus.
The gospel reading tells me that Jesus is the bread of life through whom I can be saved. I eat bread every day to satisfy hunger. So, for my spiritual hunger I need Jesus to nourish me.
In order to get food, I do works which bring money. The question here is, ‘how can I satisfy my spiritual hunger’? For this, I have many ways like going for mass, taking part in holy activities of the Church so that I can get close to Jesus through those activities. When I am with Jesus, he will teach me things which will please God, the Father. The will of Jesus in my life is to continue his mission like Philip did. I am here to continue the mission of Christ. I cannot do anything without Jesus in my life. When I have Jesus in my life, I can give to others.
When I experience Jesus in my life, I can have Jesus, the bread of life. Today, I am invited to proclaim Jesus, the bread of life, to all humanity around me and tell them that he is the only means to save our lives on earth. Only he can satisfy our spiritual hunger.
