Readings: Gen 28:10-22; Mt 9:18-26
The readings are inviting us to put our trust in the God. Once there was a prayer meeting that was conducted in the parish praying for rain. All the people came to the church empty handed except one boy who came with an umbrella. That boy had faith in God because Jesus said, ‘whatever you ask in my name I will give you.’
Most often we are like the people who came to pray but did not believe. The readings are inviting us to put trust in the Lord than in any other things because they have been created by God.
In life we give importance to our social status, our wealth, our intelligence and other worldly things. These things are all temporary; we need to trust the creator who has the power to do wonders in our life.
We have two great examples in the reading today: the woman who comes out of her shyness and believes that if only she touched Jesus’ cloak she would be healed; and the great leader of synagogue who comes to Jesus leaving his position and power asking Jesus to heal his daughter.
Let us leave our ego, our wickedness, false belief and follow Jesus and ask him to take control of our life and heal us.
