Readings: 2 Sam 24:2, 9-17; Mk 6:1-6
The readings of the day invite me to reflect upon how much I know the Lord. In the first reading, King David is taking census, but it was a sin in the eyes of God. He knew the Lord so little that he could not know the sin in the eyes of God. He only realized it after committing it. Knowing the Lord and his plan are not very easy. It is a daily struggle for everyone who wants to know him.
In the gospel reading, Jesus is being rejected at his hometown. People could not understand his power and wisdom. They saw him as a carpenter and judged based on his outward appearances that he was an ordinary man like anyone else in that town. They were narrow-minded in knowing Jesus as their Saviour and master. How can I know the Lord and experience his love for me? First of all, I have to find out who Jesus is for me.
Reading the word of God and living the gospel values in my life will make me know and experience Jesus in my life. And I shall not Judge anyone according to their appearances, rather try to know them more closely by being with them and sacrificing my time.
