In today’s gospel, Jesus speaks about the narrow gate and invites all of us to enter through this narrow gate. For me narrow gate symbolizes the pathway to eternal life.
Many times, I am at the wide and enticing gate. Jesus invites me today to enter through the narrow gate which will help me to walk carefully and learn to be disciplined. In the second reading, people were advised to stay firm on discipline and faithfulness to God. It says, “discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
Our daily lives demand from each of us to abide by discipline and faithfulness. Discipline is difficult in our life. To walk through the narrow gate we all need to learn to be disciplined.
Therefore, to be the first in the sight of God we need to humble ourselves and train to be disciplined. Jesus knows the difficulty of our life however he invites us to strive and work hard to walk through the narrow gate
