Readings: Acts 2: 1-11; Cor 12: 3b-7, 12-13; Jn 20: 19-23
The first reading tells me that God can do mighty work through the Holy Spirit. The second reading reminds me that I am unique, but I am united with others through the body of Christ. My life’s purpose is to continue the mission of Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Today’s gospel reading powerfully reminds of this mission too. In my daily life, I am faced with the choice of doing good or bad. At any given situation, the Holy Spirit helps me to choose only the good. When I do some good work, it has good consequences and bears fruits like joy and happiness.
Whatever I do has consequences, through which people or God judge me. They judge me not as I am but by the work I do. As a disciple of Jesus, if I bear good fruits, people who observe me will come closer to God because they come from God alone.
Those good fruits will not only help accomplish my task on this earth, but also bring many people closer to God. The good fruits always attract the people to come closer. I am called to use my talent for the glory of God with a challenge to work daily on my talents and sharpen them.
Also, when I love what I do I will do it with commitment. The Holy Spirit gave commandments to the Apostles, and they never looked back; rather they took Jesus’ message to different parts of the world.
Today I am invited to use my talents for the glory of God and commit myself to his work.
